I avoid pens from Italy and have settled on fountain pens from Japan from brands like Sailor, Platinum, and Pilot. Why you ask:

Pens from Italy are expensive (overpriced).
Pens from Italy emphasize looks over function
Pens from Japan write like a dream

I have always found Italian pens to be so very beautiful and I have always found Japanese pens to be so very good in terms of writing.
