Spyderco Paramilitary 3
I am a huge fan of the Paramilitary 2 (aka the PM2).
When I heard that the PM3 was announced, at first I was confused, thinking
it was an upgraded version of the PM2. This is not the case.
It is a PM2 with a shorter (namely 3 inch) blade.
Once I understood this, I was definitely not interested.
To my mind the 4 inch blade on the PM2 is perfect.
Or so I thought. I have grown to like the Spyderco "Native" and knives with
3 inch blades have their charm. And for people who live in crazy places with
peculiar knife laws, a PM3 may be legal whereas a PM2 is not.
There is a big furor about the clip and lanyard hole on the PM3.
Until I handle and spend some time with the knife, I am unable to
have an opinion. But here are some links:
Clips from MXG Gear
This outfit makes titanium deep carry clips for Spyderco knives, and many people
who are upset about the layout on the PM3 say that one of these clips solves
their problems.
Interestingly, people have asked, "Why doesn't Spyderco make and sell clips like this".
Apparently the answer is that Sal Glesser says that he wants to leave outfits like this
alone who are making a business out of selling aftermarket parts.
That sounds like a decent and enlightened approach.
