Grinder - Our new linux machine

Someone did a Debian install on this thing before I got my hands on it. User accounts seem to go into /export, which is some kind of Debian thing. We have a pilot user there (home directory /export/pilot.

The export directory looks like this:

drwxr-xr-x 5 soml root 4096 May 5 2014 iraf
drwx------ 2 root root 16384 Mar 19 2014 lost+found
drwxrwsr-x 60 soml 1005 28672 Mar 27 2015 pilot
drwxrwsr-x 32 tom 1005 4096 Jan 16 2015 pilot2
drwxr-xr-x 2 1003 1003 4096 Dec 8 2014 vworks
drwxr-xr-x 2 1004 1004 4096 Dec 8 2014 vwuser
drwxr-xr-x 35 soml root 16384 Jan 7 2015 vxworks
The 2014 and 2015 dates are well before the time of my involvement.

The /export/iraf file holds an IRAF release, incompletely or improperly installed. The Release.txt file shows:

IRAF Version 2.16.1 Release

Also a soml user with a home directory /home/soml.
Also a tom user with home directory /home/tom.

/etc/cron.daily holds a script "tjt_daily" which invokes /u1/pilot_daily. This could do more than it does, but currently it does this:

rsync -auv --exclude-from=/u1/pilot_excludes --size-only /u1/ /u2
