Getting a GPS track onto a web page

This is my cookbook of how I get this done, and is unlikely to be of use to anyone else, but you never know. I do this on my linux desktop with a variety of software installed, including some that I wrote myself. The nasty business of using a USB cable to pull files off the Garmin 66i is covered elsewhere.

For some reason, Shotwell seems to "magnify" the image, saving it as about 1005 pixels wide, so I resize it to 800 pixels wide. The "resize" command is my own script that uses "convert" from image-magic to resize the image.
