FPGA - Xilinx ISE software

I am eager to work with the Digilent Spartan 3E "starter" board I purchased on Ebay, April 20, 2022.

This does not work with the current Vivado/Vitis software, but uses the older "ISE" (integrated synthesis environment). The latest version of ISE is from 2013 and is version 14.7.

I am installing this on my Fedora 35 workstation. The bulk of ISE installs easily, but the "cable drivers" give all kinds of problems. But I did eventually get them sorted out.

Interestingly, one article says: "Xilinx do have what they call their Windows 10 version of ISE, but it's just a virtual Linux machine with ISE pre-installed on it."
